Rosa Lee “Rosie” Monday passed away on March 1, 2020 at the age of 92 following complications from Alzheimer’s. Rosa was born on October 23, 1927 in Jefferson, Oregon to parents Albert W. and Oma Lee (Franklin) Brown. She graduated from Fall City High School in 1945. Rosa and Melvin Gale Monday were married on May 8, 1971 in Reno, Nevada. Her professional career was spent in food service. Rosa started as a server on the line, before moving up to cook, and finally to food service manager - a title created for her, as she had the experience but not the college education necessary for the role. She retired after 34 years at various venues on the Oregon State University Campus. Rosa loved the outdoors, often spending her days hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and horses, and hiking. She loved her garden and could always be found making it beautiful. Rosa was also crafty, doing everything from crocheting to scrapbooking and probably had other hidden talents her family never knew about. Rosa is preceded in death by her husband, Gale Monday. She is survived by her daughters, Julia Lee Heinzel of Redding, CA, and Kellie R, King of Springfield, OR; her sister Lydia Senter of Springfield, OR and her brother Archie Brown of Salem, OR; as well as two step daughters, numerous nieces and nephews, 5 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 10AM on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, located at 4810 Willamette St. Eugene, OR 97405, with a memorial service to follow at 11AM. Donations may be made in her honor to The Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements in the care of Sunset Hills Funeral Home.
