Obituary

Ethel Mae Stimac, affectionately known as “Gram”, “Grammie” and “Grandma Waffle”, of Florence, OR passed-away from cardiac arrest on January 21, 2021 at the age of 93. Prior to living in Florence for the last six years, she had been a resident of Eugene since 1976. She was born on June 12, 1927 in Shawneetown, IL to parents Henry and Dorris (Ragsdale) Brooks. She and Michael C. Stimac were married September 28, 1946 in Wood River, IL and were together for 62 years prior to his passing in 2008. Ethel was an accomplished homemaker as well as an infant and toddler childcare provider until 1985. She was invested in her family and also enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. Her artistic talent came through in her needlework and embroidery. She is lovingly remembered by her children Terry M. Stimac PhD, of Creswell, OR; Jerry L. Stimac PhD, of Gainsville, FL; Jan Armstrong, of Eugene, OR; and Donna Bratton, of Florence, OR; as well as her sister Billie K. Vesely of Tularosa, NM; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Ethel’s family would also like to express their appreciation for her caregivers Christine, Lisa and Brenda who kept her healthy, safe, and happy.
